||
* On item drop vs MF ([https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Magic_find fandom.com], [http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/magic/magicfind.shtml Arreat Summit]) |
|||
:* Normal items vs MF. Getting some conflicting information. |
|||
::* On Arreat Summit, they explain that with 20% MF, and a monster that has 2% to drop a magic item, it will become 2.4% to drop that item with that MF. But then it would mean 0.4% less chance to drop a normal item instead? |
|||
::* On PoD chat, the players were saying that MF does not influence the chance to drop a normal / white item. But after some discussion, they seem to agree that indeed more MF, means less normal white item. This is because the game first pick an item base (like cryptic axe), then would test whether it would be unique, if not whether it would be a set, then rare, then magic, and otherwise normal, and that MF would boost these ratios at each stage. |
|||
::* But the item calculator does not reflect that. If I look at the probability to get a Thresher from Hell Bovine, it is always 1:1451 independently of the MF. How can that be? |
|||

|||
* Magic Find (MF) does not change rune drop rate. |
|||
* Best rule: kill the most high-level monster in the least amount of time. |
|||
* The highest rune that can drop depends on the Treasure Class (TC) that a monster can drop. See [http://mfb.bplaced.net/dropcalc/index.php#en Calculator] to get drop info from various sources. |
|||
* TC <code>Rune 17</code> can drop all runes in the game, including Zod (change 1:5171). |
|||
* TC <code>Rune 16</code> can drop all runes but Zod. This is the class for Cham and Jah. |
|||
* TC <code>Rune 15</code> can drop all runes from Ber and below. This is the class for Ber and Lo. |
|||
* TC <code>Rune 17</code> are actually selected from a higher class called <code>Act 5 (H) Good</code>. |
|||
* Nightmare Hell Bovine (Act I Secret Cow level), see [http://mfb.bplaced.net/dropcalc/index.php#en Calculator], can drop at most a '''Ko''' (#18). Most frequent is '''Ort'''. |
|||
* Hell Hell Bovine (Act I Secret Cow level), see [http://mfb.bplaced.net/dropcalc/index.php#en Calculator], can drop any runes. It is actually a good source for any runes. |
|||
* Other LVL 85 Areas are also a good source. |

- The Amazon Basin (check eg. Basic page)
- Game mechanics
- Get as much as item drop as possible. MF doesn't change rune drop. Only kill as much high-level monster as possible, or open as many special chests as possible (ie. chests with much more drops like those in Lower Kurast). Kill Countess (but mid runes only) because she has special drop pattern. Kill monsters that cant' drop armor or weapons (like Wraiths, Finger Mages, Vulture Demons, Willowisps, and the Swarm...)
- Special chests
- Chests with special drop pattern, usually dropping much more items. These chests appear at known locations. Players run for these chests because they have a higher chances to drop runes.
- On item drop vs MF (fandom.com, Arreat Summit)
- Normal items vs MF. Getting some conflicting information.
- On Arreat Summit, they explain that with 20% MF, and a monster that has 2% to drop a magic item, it will become 2.4% to drop that item with that MF. But then it would mean 0.4% less chance to drop a normal item instead?
- On PoD chat, the players were saying that MF does not influence the chance to drop a normal / white item.
- But the item calculator does not reflect that. If I look at the probability to get a Thresher from Hell Bovine, it is always 1:1451 independently of the MF. How can that be?
- Damage
- Merc damage: Referene Arreat, All A2 Mercenary IAS Breakpoints Infographic, Best Darn Act 2 Merc IAS Table Period, [1]
- Poison damage source doesn't stack (from POD chat). But some casted poison clouds do stack.

- Speak about
- Rune Hunting, Rune Finder (Ulrik), Level 85 Magic Find Area
- Magic Find (MF) does not change rune drop rate.
- Best rule: kill the most high-level monster in the least amount of time.
- The highest rune that can drop depends on the Treasure Class (TC) that a monster can drop. See Calculator to get drop info from various sources.
- TC
Rune 17
can drop all runes in the game, including Zod (change 1:5171). - TC
Rune 16
can drop all runes but Zod. This is the class for Cham and Jah. - TC
Rune 15
can drop all runes from Ber and below. This is the class for Ber and Lo. - TC
Rune 17
are actually selected from a higher class calledAct 5 (H) Good
. - Nightmare Hell Bovine (Act I Secret Cow level), see Calculator, can drop at most a Ko (#18). Most frequent is Ort.
- Hell Hell Bovine (Act I Secret Cow level), see Calculator, can drop any runes. It is actually a good source for any runes.
- Other LVL 85 Areas are also a good source.

Mercenary guides
- Merc gets the most XP if they kill the monster themselves. To keep in mind if merc is lagging behind.
- Equip: Life Steal, to keep him alive in fight (for melee merc only).
- Equip: Increased Attack Speed. Allow merc to leech even more.
- Equip: Crushing blow, a good boss killer.
- Equip: Slow target item, nearly as good as damage reduction items.
- Equip: Mana leech *useless*.
- Merc MF stacks with player MF, but only if merc does the kill. Important when dealing with boss.
- Use Full Rejuvenation (rather than Healing), heals faster. Use cube recipes to make such potions.
- Thaw / Anti potion time stacks up. Feed your merc before a killing session.

Quests
- Pandemonium event (patch 1.11)
- This event requires first collecting keys from the Countess, the Summoner and Nihlathak (hell difficulty). Then to collect three organs by opening three portals, each requiring the three keys (so 9 keys needed in total). Then open a red portal to Uber Tristram by transmuting the organs in the cube, and fight Uber Baal, Uber Diablo and Uber Mephisto. Reward is the Hellfire torch unique large charm.
- Diablo Clone
- Diablo Clone drops the Annihilus unique small charm. It is triggered by selling Stone of Jordan unique rings.
- Diablo Clone (Path of Diablo)
- Can be triggered manually
- Ancient Temple Maps (Path of Diablo)
- An alternate set of maps that can be accessed from the Ancient Temple using Relics. First relic (Tier 1) is obtained from Hephasto the Armorer in Act 4 on Hell difficulty (about a 10% chance).

- Wirt's Leg + A Tome of Town Portal = Secret Cow Level.
- 3 gems of same type = 1 better gem of same type
- 3 perfect skulls + 1 Rare item + Stone of jordan = add 1 socket to rare item.
- 1 Perfect Skull + 1 Rare Item + Stone of Jordan = 1 High Quality New Rare Item of the same type.
- 3 Perfect Gems (of any type) + 1 Magic Item = 1 New Random Magic Item of the Same Type
- This produces an item with same ilvl. Very interesting to produce +2 skill amulets [2] or better charms [3], [4]
- 1 RAL + 1 AMN + 1 PAmethyst + Non-magic Weapon = Socketed Weapon of same type.
- Useful to get a socketed Broad sword / Long Sword / Crystal Sword for SPIRIT (note that Crystal Sword may have up to 6 sockets so may require more retries).
- 1 TAL + 1 AMN + 1 PRuby + Non-magic Shield = Socketed Shield of same type
- Useful to get a 4os Monarch for SPIRIT.
- 1 Tal Rune + 1 Thul Rune + 1 Perfect Topaz + Normal Body Armor = Socketed Body Armor of same type

- 1 Ko Rune + 1 Lem Rune + 1 Perfect Diamond + Exceptional Unique Armor = Elite Version of Armor
- 1 Ort Rune + 1 Chipped Gem (any kind) + Weapon = Fully Repaired and Recharged Weapon
- Some advanced players prefer this method over payment.
- 1 Hel Rune + Scroll of Town Portal + Any Socketed Item = Remove items from sockets
- Handy to recover good base items (like elite ethereal polearm when switching from Insight to Infinity)
Tips
- Don't use heavy armors, they have speed and stamina penalties. See for instance Crow Caw Armor vs Twitch.
- Don't pick anything when recovering dead body, or that can lead to losing items (which occurs when having more than one non-empty body. Consider command

- Interesting items to shop
- Wand with Lower Resist charges (Wand of Lower Resistance), to break monster immunities. Easily bought by Drognan (make sure he's close to town exit).
- Wand of Life Tap, to get 50% life leech, which is very useful against strong monsters.
- To Refill Portal Tome, just sell and buy it back. It works even with merchant that does not sell any scroll of town portal!
- To show items permanently: Open your inventory, press alt, open your cube (it has to be in your inventory, not in your stash), release alt, and close your cube/inventory. [6]. Press alt again to reset.
