Introduction
This is the configuration page for the Windows Vista partition on Mandela - Nelson.

Detailed System Settings
1st Install
- Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
- Disable automatic update during install!
- Boot without network!
- Shut down & disable Windows Panel
- Disable the service Recherche Windows / Windows Search (SearchIndexer.exe)
- Disable system restore (→ computer → properties → system protection → unselect all drives) (from [1])
- Uninstall bloat-ware:
- Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer
- LiveUpdate 3.2 (Symantec Corporation)
- Norton Internet Security (Symantec Corporation)
- Install SysInternals Process Explorer and Autoruns
- Personalize:
- Desktop icons
- Explorer view
- Reboot
- Download and install KB936330 - Vista Service Pack 1 32-bit
- Download and install KB948465 - Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit.
- ... the update was quite fast actually (15min). Much much much less than via Windows Update.
- Plug in network, and activate Windows (if not done already).
- Prepare for 1st backup:
- Clean all hard drives
- ... deleting hybernation file
- Remove swap file (was on auto)
- ... reboot and delete it
