Introduction
This is the configuration page for the Windows Vista partition on Mandala - Nelson.

Simple Settings

Detailed System Settings
1st Install
- Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP1.
- Disable automatic update during install!
- Boot without network!
- Shut down & disable Windows Panel
- Uninstall 2007 Microsoft Office system (60-day trial)
- Disable the service Recherche Windows / Windows Search (SearchIndexer.exe)
- Disable system restore (→ computer → properties → system protection → unselect all drives) (from [1])
- Uninstall Activation Assistant for the 2007 Microsoft Office suites (60-day trial)
- Uninstall BullGuard 8.0
- Install SysInternals Process Explorer and Autoruns
- Reboot
- Download and install KB948465 - Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit.
- ... the update was quite fast actually (15min). Much much much less than via Windows Update.
- Plug in network, and activate Windows.
- Enable wireless (via Ralink Wireless LAN) and register to ManticoreNet
- Set to Public network
- Configure Windows Firewall:
- Forbid all incoming connections
- Disable exception for Réseau de base
- Prepare for 1st backup:
- Rename E: to D:
- Clean all hard drives
- ... deleting hybernation file
- Remove swap file (was on auto)
- ... reboot and delete it
- Size now is 7.68GB
