Pending issue ------------- - Personal settings - Style - where is gone Thin Keramik ? - Personal settings - Window decoration - Keramik -> close button has some slack space <-> upper right corner even when maximized. SUSE2 doesn't have this problem. - RGB Hinting ? - Samba sharing doesn't work - MathML fonts: We aren't supposed to use the Windows symbol.ttf. - MathML fonts: double-struk fonts mismatch (C,N,P,... different than other fonts) (see LaTeXMathML example page by Mike) - Opera: KDE reserved some shortcut (like Ctrl-F8), hence these will not work unless changing KDE shortcuts. - Adding /tmp/packages as installation source broken synchronization with ZENworks (-> can't parse XML metadata) - Added OpenPGP key to 2x identities in Kontact, but scarlet.be identity not in list of email of key -> might create warning at receiver side. - MIME settings for OpenPGP in Kontact doesn't seems correct - test it; 20070209: tried inline MIME encoding - Wine: cdrom at /mnt/cdrom??? - Wine: modify SFMIRROR if winetools not working - Wine: Windows version is set to win98 -> try to switch to W2K ? - Wine: ~/winetools mapped to F: in Wine. Map /windows/F instead unless wine/winetools need it (some fonts installed there...) - Wine - CompareIt: Konqueror action doesn't work if URL contains : (winepath can't interpret them correctly) - Bug - kmix - had to add MasterMixerDevice=0 in kmixrc (http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-bugs-dist&m=116535192822980&w=2) - alt sol: deselect/reselect maxter channel Issue solved/Done ----------------- - solved as of 20070205 (since switch to SUSE 10.2): MathML fonts: zoom x 2 on an integral --> bad sizing of the integral, exp, indices badly positioned. - Done: installed fuse + ntfs-3g for ntfs RW access (ntfs-3g seems better than captive-ntfs; see ntfs-3g performance http://www.ntfs-3g.org/performance.html) - Done: Knoppix 5.1: burned CD; very good support of ntfs (ntfs-3g) - partimage 0.6.4 available - very good support of wine (--> DVDShrink 3.2 works flawless) Bugs ---- - Theme manager: theme name must not contain space or dots; background image must not contain space - Konqueror file assoc: opening .html file in firefox doesn't work if path has space Additional Installation Sources: ------------------------------- See SUSE 10.0 log (also hacking stuff, etc). Font system: ----------- - base X11 fonts -> /usr/share/fonts (was /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts in SUSE 10.0) - local system fonts -> /usr/local/share/fonts - user fonts -> ~/.fonts - Better use YaST to add fonts (-> automatically update fonts.dir, ... files) - MathML font: See www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/fonts Kernel compilation ------------------ See SUSE 10.0 log for more information (usings kernel symbols, etc) Notes: ----- - Installing Lucida Sans Unicode (file L_10646.ttf) seems a bad idea because it interfers with other math fonts. (now all variable looks like Lucida!!!) - Download big file with 'wget -c URL'. Do it again if download was interrupt and to resume download. - Reiserfs seems really more performant than ext2/ext3 (see http://www.ntfs-3g.org/performance.html) Improvements since SUSE10.0 --------------------------- - System much faster. Login almost instantaneous, app loads faster. Seems to be related of disk access (due to reiserfs) but also may be pre-loading of some library? - YaST software management. Now a nice progress bar for the difference installation source that is refreshed ! - YaST software management. Now system config is automatically updated after packages are installed (no intermediate click) Konqueror --------- - Use KDCOP/ DCOP for accessing API available for use (see http://developer.kde.org/documentation/tutorials/dot/servicemenus.html) FireFox ------- - Install AddOn Live Http Headers ? KDevelop -------- - enable CTAGS -> set /usr/bin/ctags as path in project options, enable ctags, go to ctags bottom panel, click generate (alt: force alt. ctags file in project options) - Ctrl-Shift-F -> enable full screen (very handy) - flag for Optimized build not correct: should be -O3 -g0 (instead of -O2 -g0) !!! - to also get all warning when compiling, add CFFFLAGS: -Wall -Wextra FTP Server ---------- - vsftpd configured to run in listen mode. Just call /usr/sbin/vsftpd in the command-line to start the ftp server (sftp is working as well) Kontact ------- - KGpg: To permanently decrypt emails, move it to draft folder, decrypt text, then move back email to original folder Autopackage ----------- - Seems excellent (used to install glGo).
