- Game mechanics
- Get as much as item drop as possible. MF doesn't change rune drop. Only kill as much high-level monster as possible, or open as many special chests as possible (ie. chests with much more drops like those in Lower Kurast). Kill Countess (but mid runes only) because she has special drop pattern. Kill monsters that cant' drop armor or weapons (like Wraiths, Finger Mages, Vulture Demons, Willowisps, and the Swarm...)
- Special chests
- Chests with special drop pattern, usually dropping much more items. These chests appear at known locations. Players run for these chests because they have a higher chances to drop runes.
- On item drop.
- Normal items vs MF. Getting some conflicting information.
- On Arreat Summit, they explain that with 20% MF, and a monster that has 2% to drop a magic item, it will become 2.4% to drop that item with that MF. But then it would mean 0.4% less chance to drop a normal item instead?
- On PoD chat, the players were saying that MF does not influence the chance to drop a normal / white item. But after some discussion, they seem to agree that indeed more MF, means less normal white item. This is because the game first pick an item base (like cryptic axe), then would test whether it would be unique, if not whether it would be a set, then rare, then magic, and otherwise normal, and that MF would boost these ratios at each stage.
- But the item calculator does not reflect that. If I look at the probability to get a Thresher from Hell Bovine, it is always 1:1451 independently of the MF. How can that be?

Mercenary guides
- Merc gets the most XP if they kill the monster themselves. To keep in mind if merc is lagging behind.
- Equip: Life Steal, to keep him alive in fight (for melee merc only).
- Equip: Increased Attack Speed. Allow merc to leech even more.
- Equip: Crushing blow, a good boss killer.
- Equip: Slow target item, nearly as good as damage reduction items.
- Equip: Mana leech *useless*.
- Merc MF stacks with player MF, but only if merc does the kill. Important when dealing with boss.
- Use Full Rejuvenation (rather than Healing), heals faster. Use cube recipes to make such potions.
- Thaw / Anti potion time stacks up. Feed your merc before a killing session.

Quests
- Pandemonium event (patch 1.11)
- This event requires first collecting keys from the Countess, the Summoner and Nihlathak (hell difficulty). Then to collect three organs by opening three portals, each requiring the three keys (so 9 keys needed in total). Then open a red portal to Uber Tristram by transmuting the organs in the cube, and fight Uber Baal, Uber Diablo and Uber Mephisto. Reward is the Hellfire torch unique large charm.
- Diablo Clone
- Diablo Clone drops the Annihilus unique small charm. It is triggered by selling Stone of Jordan unique rings.
- Diablo Clone (Path of Diablo)
- Can be triggered manually
- Ancient Temple Maps (Path of Diablo)
- An alternate set of maps that can be accessed from the Ancient Temple using Relics. First relic (Tier 1) is obtained from Hephasto the Armorer in Act 4 on Hell difficulty (about a 10% chance).
Miscellaneous
- 3000 super chest openings in River of Flame

- Light modding, but great improvement on Gameplay (widescreen support, doubled inventory and stash, improved rune drops...)
- Support for Loot filters (I use an own variant of Simplicity, but the best is apparently Anirmls).
- Active community.

- A bit more modding. With an item shop, so might be suspect...
Runewords
- Tips
- So RW grants Probability of Casting with long term effect (like Fade on Treachery RW, lasting for 288s).

- 1 RAL + 1 AMN + 1 PAmethyst + Non-magic Weapon = Socketed Weapon of same type.
- Useful to get a socketed Broad sword / Long Sword / Crystal Sword for SPIRIT (note that Crystal Sword may have up to 6 sockets so may require more retries).

Tips
- Don't use heavy armors, they have speed and stamina penalties. See for instance Crow Caw Armor vs Twitch.
- Don't pick anything when recovering dead body, or that can lead to losing items (which occurs when having more than one non-empty body. Consider command
/nopickup
[2]. - To reset traded items at merchants, exit the town, wait for the music to change or for mercenary aura to trigger (only a few secs), then get back in.
- Sometimes it is helpful to create a new map so that merchant is closer to the exit (e.g. Drognan in Lut Gholein).
- Interesting items to shop
- Wand with Lower Resist charges (Wand of Lower Resistance), to break monster immunities. Easily bought by Drognan (make sure he's close to town exit).
- Wand of Life Tap, to get 50% life leech, which is very useful against strong monsters.
- To Refill Portal Tome, just sell and buy it back. It works even with merchant that does not sell any scroll of town portal!
