How-to

Disable windows search and delete up index file

Delete index file
  • Go to settings -> Privacy & security -> Searching Windows -> Advanced indexing options, click Rebuild.
  • Index won't be rebuild if service is disabled. Just enable it and disable it again rapidly.
Stop the service
  • Start services.msc.
  • Locate Windows Search, in All Tasks, set it to Disabled (originally Automatic (delayed)). Then Stop the service.
