Troubleshooting
  • Issue #118 Font messed up on Debian Buster. This is apparently an electron / atom issue. See similar issue on vscode and [3] (from [4], from Google query electron font messed up). One workaround is to downgrade libfreetype6.

Tips
  • Upgrade shield to level 4 (two barriers) early on, to avoid spending too much on repair.
  • Upgrade engine to level 3 (cheap, boost on evasion, and FTL charge if must flee).
  • Upgrade piloting, sensors and doors to level 2 (nice blue options, also sensors handy for biokilling).
  • When meeting ennemy with weak fire power (like only shoot laser, never making any damage), stay in fight without attacking to let crew get experience (dodging, shield recharge).
  • Keep pilot at his place (for dodging).
  • Manning order: pilot, weapon, engine, shield, sensors, doors.
  • Upgrade sensors for blue options (reddit)
  • Target shield first or weapon first?
  • Usually weapon first to reduce amount of damage on our ship (to reduce repair cost).
  • Use git to manage the save folder. Game is saved when quitting or going to main menu.
My play with Engi A
  • Hull repair drone in flagship phase 3 was very useful (had original attack drone, repair drone II, and hull repair). This must be combined with drone recovery arm.
  • Kept the medbay improvement (found no better alternative. Had long-range scanner, drone recovery arm and medbay stuff).
