    • Wake-on-LAN
    • Timer & scheduler
  • Reliability
    • Not only reliability of harddrives, but also reliability of the main unit!
    • If the main unit is broken, make sure that data can still be retrieved by installing the harddrives in another unit.
    • Notification in case of defect (not a mere diode, but mail).
  • Transert speed
    • For both big and small files
    • RAID 5, SMB, files > 1MB: 1,2MB/s (Synology DS508)
    • RAID 5, SMB, big files: 31,4MB/s (Synology DS508)
    • RAID 5, SMB, files > 1MB: 5,5MB/s (N5200BR)
    • RAID 5, SMB, big files: 30,9MB/s (N5200BR)

  • Crash in September 2018 (bought ~ June 2015, lifetime 3 yr).

  • Hard drive 3.5" 4 To 5900 RPM 64 Mo Serial ATA 6 Gb/s for NAS (bulk)
  • Disk 3 crash (bad sectors) in May 2023 (bought September 2018, lifetime 4 yr 8 months).
  • Replaced with Western Digital Red Plus 8TB, because WDC has good annual failure rate stats on Backblaze reports.
